Kenton Hardin Health Department conducts on demand car seat checks by appointment to help you keep your child riding safely.
Child safety seats are as important as your child’s immunizations in protecting his or her life and health.
Did you know that the greatest danger to children older than age one is car accidents?
Fortunately, serious injuries and deaths can be prevented simply by using a child safety seat or restraint that is appropriate for your child’s age.
Remember, Ohio’s law requires that children younger than 8 and under 4’9″ tall should ride in a car seat or booster seat.
Kenton Hardin Health Department encourages parents to have their car seat or booster seat inspected by a certified child passenger safety technician. These technicians have extensive training in car seats, and seat belt systems, and can help you answer your most common car seat questions.
During a car seat inspection, your car seat will be checked for recalls. The technician will work with you to make sure your car seat is properly installed in your vehicle. Most car seat checks take 30 to 45 minutes. The legal guardian must be present during the car seat check and ideally the child is present as well. This ensures that the car seat is the right fit for your child.
If you are expecting a child, we will be happy to help you install your seat and answer any questions you have before your child’s arrival.
