National Teen Driver Safety Week

National Teen Driver Safety Week

Talk to your teens about how to drive safely.

Parents should have conversations with their teens early and often about important rules to follow to stay safe on the road. The greatest dangers for teens are:

  • Alcohol Use
  • Inconsistent/no seat belt use
  • Distracted/drowsy driving
  • SpeedingĀ
  • Number of passengers

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens (15 to 18) in the United States.

There were 1,972 teen drivers in fatal motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2015. An estimated 99,000 teen agers are injured in traffic crashes.
