Radon Local Levels

Radon Local Levels

Due to naturally occurring high levels of Radon in the soils of Central Ohio, the EPA recommends all Ohio homeowners test their home for radon.  Radon is a naturally occurring odorless/colorless gas that enters into a building that is in contact with the ground, like basements. Because it is a gas it can enter through many different avenues including cracks in the foundation of a home, construction joints and gaps around service piping. High levels of Radon are very dangerous and can cause serious health complications

You’re home should be tested. If it has been tested in the past it is best to re-test every 2 years according the the EPA. Keep you and your family safe by getting your in home test kit today in one of 3 ways.

1. Go to www.uchd.net/radon and fill out the information and receive your kit in the mail and follow the directions given.

2. Go to your local hardware store! Most kits can be purchased for about $25.00.

3. Order a test kit at www.sosradon.org or by calling 1-800-SOS-RADON (1-800-767-7236).

Those zip codes with identified higher levels of radon are Harrod, and LaRue. Please consider getting your home tested if you live within these zip codes as they have been identified as higher level areas.

We still strongly urge EVERYONE to get their home tested.
